University Guidance

At AISCT we understand the importance of having the appropriate guidance and support through the university selection and application process. This is one reason why we start this process early in the High School years. Guided research and activities are structured at each grade level in order to facilitate a thorough process in helping students decide their path after graduation.

In Grade 10, students start to put together a tentative path for higher education by investigating their personality, aptitudes, strengths and abilities. They also start to plan a course selection which correlates with the requirements for the particular programs of study which they wish to pursue. In Grade 11, the students concentrate on career exploration and begin the search for university, college and tertiary programs matching their goals. A formal advising relationship with the high school counselor is also established via individual counseling sessions to address the students’ individual needs. Grade 11 students begin exposure to university presentations and career talks by visiting institutions. In Grade 12, students are assisted with the application process to post-secondary institutions. Guidance is given about different application systems in various areas around the world. Students continue to receive individual counseling sessions to address specific needs and requirements for their applications.

The high school counselor offers informational workshops to introduce students and parents to the various options available post-graduation, as well as the university search and application process. News and information about preparing for college is communicated to students and families at the appropriate grade level throughout the high school years.
